Why are Africa's most efficient food producers being murdered?

* He was an unnamed Groblersdal farmer, shot in the head while watching TV by a large group of gunmen who had broken down his door and gunned him down at point-blank range.

* They then looted three (centrally-registered) firearms from his (centrally-registered) gun-safe by cutting it open with an angle-iron, according to Limpopo police.
* Very little else seems to have been looted: which makes these armed attacks targetting the country's excess food-producers so deeply mysterious: why they didn't just tie the farmer up to loot the house -- instead of killing him assassination-style ?
These ongoing militia-style attacks targetting Africa's best food producers, their families and their workers have been escalating dramatically since 1994, whe the ANC gained political hegemony. Last year these attacks increased by more than 24% over the previous year.
South Africa comprises some 3.8% of the African continent, but only 0,76% of the country's entire land surface is still used for permanent food-cropping.
* Yet spite of these massive security problems and government-restrictions on their commercial land-ownership rights, this besieged handful of white commercial farmers still produces 25% of all of Africa-produced maize and 13% of all Africa's wheat.
Afrikaner farmers produce 58% of all maize, 87% of all wheat in sub-saharan Africa:
In sub-saharan Africa, it's only South Africa's rapidly-shrinking band of commercial farmers who still produce 58% of all its local maize and 87% of all its local wheat.
South Africa is also the sub-continent's largest producer of sugar, milk and fresh fruit in Southern Africa.
